Philosophy
We believe that the students of Slidell Junior High School are rapidly changing individuals in a fast paced world, who are seeking to establish personal identity through communication and exploration. Emphasis must be placed on the students, faculty, administration, and parents working together as a team to help our students become informed and responsible individuals who are able to function in a democratic society.
We realize that the educational community must raise the standards of achievement through high expectations of individual performance. Teachers must motivate their students by setting good examples for them to emulate. There must be a concern for the sequential skills needed for success in the work place. We need to enfold innovative teaching and co-operative learning into a technology rich enviroment to expose students to dynamic learning experiences.
We hold the following principles to be true and applicable to Slidell Junior High School.
1. Children are worth knowing, worth working with, and worth the dedicated efforts of every teacher.
2. Our school should recognize and address the skills necessary for student success.
3. Our aim is to provide the child, within his ability, challenges that will motivate his interest and future development.
4. The educational programs of our school should be planned so that the child will become a productive member of society.
5. We encourage children to develop to their full potential in prescribed curricula, to pursue their fields of interest, and to develop good habits of character and citizenship.
